When Vinyl records make a come-back?

Have folks noticed that LP's and record players are becoming more and more popular?

We were recently given a old unit with a record player, tape cassette and 8-track all-in-one. My 19 year old went ectatic! We got a hold of a few old rock LP's and he called over some of his buddies and it is a really big hit! They are so envious of him.

Many of the older bands he hadn't heard of, but asked me which ones were worth listening too.... Laughing Laughing

Today we listened to Captain and Tenille..., ELO, Queen and CCR....on vinyl records...Maybe later we will chill to some Jethro Tull and Grand Funk... Laughing

The head phones are really neat....So big they actually cover the whole ear....and nice and cushioned....Much better than those silly things that go in your ear and fall out all the time...

Woooo Hoooo...! We are having a Retro Weekend!!
lol.....that is awesome....what fun...we have 3 juteboxes that play 78's...some of them are really funny....the scratchiness of the vinyl and the old speakers make the music more authentic...there is something to be said of advancement, but then again, nostalgic-wise nothing beats old fashion records.....
Our stereo was never unhooked - and we just hooked it back up everytime we moved. And we actually have the White Album ...... as an album.
The hard part is finding needles.
I have a USB connected turntable so I uploaded all my vinyl albums to my computer. I love the vinyl for the collectibility of them and I love the album jackets but I don't like to play them because they're so fragile.
In a (rare) cleaning frenzy I just threw away a two foot stack of albums Rolling Eyes
I don't care how technologically advanced I am in the sound industry, I will NEVER get rid of my vinyl!
There's something about analog hiss (at the right time!) and the tactileness of a record that can't be beat. I am in absolute heaven with my records!!!
Although, putting records on my sound system is a little bit of overkill! Laughing

This is exactly what I need!

I collect old blues vinyl, it just doesn't sound right on re-mastered cds. I love dirty recording on an old record, seems more authentic to me.
Ya like scratch music?

Here is my proposed official theme song for SheepiePalooza*

*I haven't actually proposed this to anyone connected to SheepiePalooza.
Next thing we know, Ron will post Al Jolson singing "Swanee." Rolling Eyes

Not that I have anything against Jolson, mind you.
Your wish is my command.

Swanee, by Al Jolson
I just read these posts for the first time. I wish I had known
someone still played vinyl - I just pitched about a half ton
in our bulk garbage pickup. Mad (along with the turntable/receiver)
Vic and I both had several cartons. I really hated to see them
go, but I hadn't played them in ages. My clean out rule is if
it hasn't been used it goes. This is the first time I have
regretted pitching anything!

My husband has 1000s of records here. He said for me to post and to tell you "for the love of god, don't throw them away, send them to me instead".

Rolling Eyes Laughing
Hey, hey, hey Wynette!!! Tell him not to be greedy!!!
Anybody with unwanted Styx albums should send them to me. I call dibs!!!!!!!
we have totes full of 33 1/2 lps/ we still have our turn table. BUT we do have some very old 78's our turn table does not have other speed's

I have some of the original Elvis from when I was 14 yrs old. And Richard has many of the Beatles. Richard has many 45's and I have 2- 78's that were of my father singing. He was a tenor and use to sing when he drove bus
back in the late 40's. they need to be restored, some are in Italian, any ideas?

We have a box of 78's and a very old player you have to crank it uo to wind the spring from 1910.
