|I left my office at lunch today to go a few blocks away to Chipotle, and I took the train so I could get back sooner. Well, coming back the train was late so I was standing around waiting for the next one. Some guy was sitting down and had his lunch in his lap and was tossing bread out to the pigeons. It was kind of cute. Anyway, a piece of the bread fell into the train tracks and the pigeons were fighting over it....then the train was coming...all but one of the pigeons flew away. The last pigeon was still trying to grab the bread, now that he had no competition, but it was too late. The train was taller than the pigeon, but then he tried to fly away (while under the train) and that did him in.
I know it was just a stupid pigeon, but it was really disturbing. He was laying there all contorted after the train pulled up. I had to keep myself from crying...how stupid is that?? I just feel dumb for feeling so bad about it, but it's hard to watch something die.
|How awful that was to see. I hate to see anything killed. If I see a deer on the side of the road tears come to my eyes. Sorry you saw it. |
|Thank you. I feel the same way.
I felt pretty sad afterwards.
|Oh Stephanie, its not stupid at all. I get upset anytime I see even a racoon in the road.
When I was in high school (a million years ago) I gave a friend a ride home from school. When I was pulling out of his drive, a dog ran in front of my car out of no where, and I hit him. The dog was fine, but I was devistated by the experience, and didn't drive again for about a year.
Death, of any of G-d's creatures, is hard to accept.
|thats just being a kind and caring person which you are|
|Awww, sorry you saw that. It's not silly to be freaked out. I hit a rabbit once, and STILL feel horrible about it. That was 15 years ago |
|Thats not silly I would have been sobbing my heart out. I feel so guilty if I go in the garden at night and hear a snail shell scrunch. You must be a really good person for caring. xxxx|
|I'm sorry you had to witness that. |
|Not silly at all...it means you are a caring, sympathetic person.|
|I would have cried too.
My heart goes out to you that you had to witness that. I am sorry you had to witness the death of a creature. Everything has it's place no matter how big or small and to see it's life shortened is so sad.
