I recently had my OES shaved. When I brought him home, the cat didn't know him!! It was 3 days ago that he was shaved and still the cat still doesn't know him.... anyone have any suggestions?
Welcome to the community, Fez.

Never having had a cat, I can only make silly suggestions like -- a sweater for your OES?

Perhaps Mr/Mrs cat doesn't like the way your OES smells from the groomer; perhaps a roll in the grass outside might help! Rolling Eyes

Time is probably on your side; I hope the cat will get used to his/her "new" friend! Very Happy
My cat is the EXACT same way. Same thing will probably happen if you took your dog to the vet/boarding for the day (the smells from the other animals). Whenever I gave my maltese a bath the first YEAR of her life, my cat would want to fight her b/c she smelled funny. She would be lovey dovey to my dog seconds before the bath. Then she would stay in the bathroom and watch her being bathed. The second I dried her, a fight would start.

*shrugs*

I let her work it out herself. It gets better each time. Eventually the lightbulb in the cat goes off. Now that doesn't happen ..............as much. When I shave the other cat, she freaks out and fights her too. Again, I just laugh it off or tell her she's being silly. Wink
How funny.I wouldnt have thought an animal would care.I thought they knew each other by smell.
When I was a toddler,my mother left me with her sister minding me,while she went to the hairdressers.I had never been left before so I sat in the highchair she left me in,crying the whole time, breaking into screams if my aunt approached and tried to take me out.Her sis was relieved when Mother returned, however,I didnt recognize her as she had had her long straight hair cut and curly permed so I kept up the crying and wouldnt let her lift me out of the highchair either.I must have got out as I did attend school eventually.
Going to the groomer would change the visual cues and the smell.
Give it a week.

my hubby grew a beard when the kids were tiny. one night he shaved it off the kids refused to have anything to do with him next day. next time he grew one and shaved it off, he had the kids in the bathroom watching him!
HA When I brought Laika home in the summer from her summer cut. Tony (cat) freaked out. Everytime Laika would come into the room in the morning his tail would enlarge 3 times the size and his back went up. ha good laugh.
