When you find a dead frog in your living room?

What does it mean when you find a dead frog in your living room?

I'll tell you: It means a juvenile Florida Banded Water Snake killed the frog and your 13 week old puppy picked it up on the way inside and left it as quite a surprise!

We happened upon the frog yesterday and assumed Bingley brought it in as a treasure - he usually tries to bring in a piece of plant each time we re-enter the house. So we disposed of the frog and continued to wonder how it died. UNTIL yesterday afternoon when Ian saw this in our potted herbs outside the door:

We were extremely wary and careful until we matched it to a FL banded water snake, which is harmless. He can live in our little pond and eat the frogs that come and go, but I'm glad we saw him before Bingley did. Now we know to watch carefully as we enter and leave the house. Shocked Rolling Eyes
Cool!

Glad it was a harmless snake though Shocked
There would be a FOR SALE sign on my house faster than you can say "Lickety Split"
Oh, my! And I thought it was bad when Bosley brought in large moths!

What a girly girl... Rolling Eyes ! Just like my husband.... Laughing

My 14 yr old wants a pet snake soooo badly, and I happen to like them, but Don says "NO WAY". Of cource we'd have to get one from a "Reptile Rescue", if we did get one... Wink
Wow pretty colours on the snake. Not a fan of them as majority are poisonous here and we have to watch the dogs in the hot weather outside especially up at the farm, no off lead in summer due to snakes. Shocked

Glad bingley left it alone and chose the frog instead. I imagine the snake would pack a good bite even though not poisonous Cool
Ewww...I'd sell too..LOL we don;t come across many snakes around here.

But we do have frogs, and I found one while painting our fence, and I had to quickly put him in water before the paint killed him...poor guy hopped right into the brush.
Did someone say SNAKE??? One creeped in my lanai while I was outside painting....I would up standing on the table for a good 15 minutes until someone heard me screaming.
I'm not used to Florida living yet, but we have black snakes and tons of rabbits and frogs...LOL

Did I mention Bats?

I'm glad you found out that snake isn't poisonous.... blllghghghghghghh

Michelina~
Good for you for allowing the snake to stay! high five!
We should invite the snakes and frogs and bats to stay, and
maybe we'd see a difference in the number of "pests" like
mosquitos and flies. We have a few toads in our yard
every single year, and we put up bat houses and gave them
as gifts at Christmas.
I'd love to have a snake, but Vic says no way too. Oh well, I
have the dogs, I should be glad for that!

Shellie
Cool looking snake! Cool
Poor Froggie Sad Sad
Pretty snake but yikes!! I don't mind pet snakes in cages - will even play with them, but in the wild...no way! lol I consider them all poision unless they're little green garden snakes. Hard to believe I was once a little girl who went snake hunting with my cousins so we could find a garden snake to play with - it's amazing we didn't get ourselves bit/killed. lol
I would've FAINTED!
I dont mind frogs or snakes....I freak out at scorpions.... Shocked Thank God, there hasnt been one in this house!!
Lol. My immediate thought was: you live in Florida, of course you found a frog!

I was staying with my dad in Tampa one weekend and sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room. I looked up and there was a frog on the wall. My step-mom loves sticking little odd knick knacks everywhere so I thought it was a statue but it was oddly high. Finally, I couldn't stand it. I got up, climbed up on the couch and went to poke it and, sure enough, it was real. It jumped on me and I fell because it scared the crap out of me. I'm not scared of frogs or snakes or anything but I wasn't expecting him to jump! Luckily we both survived and I let him loose outside. Smile
Laughing Laughing Snakes bring out some good stories!

As to letting him stay, as long as he's not poisonous I think he's a welcome addition (although I'm still cautious going by). I feel bad that this was main territory for SO MANY critters and one day it just got toppled over and replaced with thousands of homes.

After growing up on 20 acres, town home living is a big adjustment for me still. Wink
I found a frog this morning - it somehow got trapped between the storm and screen doors overnight. I was surprised by it this morning when I opened the door to let the dogs out this morning!

I am glad we are relatively snake free. I wouldn't have liked that!
PRETTY SNAKE, MY AUNT FANNIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shocked There is no such thing as a pretty snake. I HATE EM HATE EM HATE EM. Gives me the shivers just to look at the picture. Excited

I have perineal bed on the side of my house which I have refused to set foo in since I saw not one, not two but THREE baby snakes slithering around in in July. I'm seriously thinking about plowing it under and just planting grass.

HATE EM HATE EM HATE EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH, I love the typo "perineal bed" Laughing Laughing

Especially coming from a nurse. Maybe it takes another nurse to notice!
